Duration: 1 DAYS

This TENORM Safety Awareness Course provide an understanding of the hazards associated with NORM/TENORM and related personnel protection practice

COURSE INTRODUCTION

For oil and gas companies, awareness is critical. TENORM can be found in produced water, mineral scale, and sludge, as well as in storage tanks, inside pipelines, or in pipeline inspection gadgets. This TENORM Safety Awareness course is designed for the awareness level only. This basic level of TENORM Safety Awareness Course is designed to inform the employee where they can recognize the hazard and to adhere the safe working procedures when dealing with NORM/TENORM.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

  • To provide basic understanding of the philosophy and principles of radiation protection in NORM/ TENORM processing
  • To create awareness on the effects of ionising radiation and safety working procedures related to NORM/ TENORM
  • To familiarise with safe working procedures when dealing with NORM/ TENORM

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The course is typically provided to Oil and Gas operator employees and other workers who need to understand the risk of working around NORM/TENORM.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Fundamental of TENORM
  • Basic information of radiation
  • Dose limitation system
  • TENORM hazards and biology effects
  • Legislative requirement to TENORM
  • Principle of TENORM protection
  • Detection of radiation
  • Work procedures for safe handling on TENORM decontamination

HYDROGEN SULPHIDE (H2S) AWARENESS

Duration: 1/2 DAYS

Every employee working in an area where Hydrogen Sulphide may be present – be aware of the potential hazards, know how to protect themselves from its toxic effects.

COURSE INTRODUCTION

Hydrogen Sulphide is one of the most dangerous gases to be found in the oil and gas industry. It is an extremely toxic, colourless, flammable, corrosive gas that affects the body’s nervous and respiratory systems. At low concentrations, hydrogen sulphide (also known as H2S, sewer gas, swamp gas, stink damp, and sour damp) emits a pungent “rotten egg” odour. It’s extremely flammable and toxic.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

  • A clear knowledge of the dangers associated with H2S.
  • The know-how of the use of safety equipment.
  • To ensure a safe system of work.
  • A safe means of escape in the event of H2S emergency.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

All employees entering work sites with a potential of high concentrations H2S hazard, for them to be cautious, understand the risk of H2S exposure, and know what to do in the event of an H2S emergency.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Introduction & Fundamental of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S)
  • H2S Characteristic
  • Working Safely with H2S
  • H2S Detection System
  • Respiratory Protection Devices
  • Contingency Plan, Emergency Roles and Responsibilities

COURSE METHODOLOGY

  • Participative lecture
  • Demonstration / Practical

CARBON CAPTURE UTILITY AND STORAGE (CCUS)

Duration: 2 DAYS

Application in the Oil and Gas Industry

To provide an overview of the drivers for CO2 capture and storage and to develop an understanding of the technology and techniques deployed in the execution of CCUS projects.

COURSE INTRODUCTION

CCUS is a technology that allows for capturing the CO2 emitted during heavy oil production and storing it underground instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. The process involves capturing CO2 at the source, such as a gas plant or a boiler, and transporting it via pipelines to a storage site.
This course provides an extensive introduction to Carbon Capture, Utility, and Storage (CCUS). It discusses why we need to think about CO2 storage, the qualities of CO2, and how it can be caught and processed. Underground, or subterranean storage, is also being studied to gain a better understanding of the geological and other technological restrictions associated with large-scale and long-term CO2 storage. The economic drivers of these initiatives will also be explored.

WHY SHOULD ATTEND

Oil and Gas professionals of all disciplines (technical and non-technical) looking to establish or improve their understanding of CO2 capture, transportation and storage.

LEARNING OUTCOME

By the end of the course, the delegate will be able to:

  • Articulate why we need CO2 storage
  • Explain CO2 properties and phase behaviour using a phase diagram.
  • Describe different sources of CO2 and various technologies used for its capture.
  • Predict CO2 transportation requirements and options
  • Estimate subsurface reservoir storage capacity and suitability.
  • Appreciate key economic drivers in CCUS
