Shaharuddin bin Safri
Managing Director
Shaharuddin bin Safri is the Managing Director of Hg Solution Sdn Bhd, a PETRONAS-licensed Malaysian company specializing in mercury and hazardous materials management for the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. With over 25 years of experience in industrial chemistry, he brings strong
leadership and technical expertise in laboratory operations, environmental safety, and regulatory
compliance.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Industrial Chemistry and began his career in production engineering before advancing into research and development at SIRIM Berhad, where he focused on advanced materials testing and evaluation. He later spent several years with Lafarge Malayan Cement as a Senior Chemist, leading laboratory management, quality control, and process improvement initiatives. During his tenure, he played a key role in achieving multiple international certifications,
including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 17025, and is a certified Lead Auditor for ISO
9001 and ISO 17025.
At Hg Solution Sdn Bhd, he leads strategic direction and operational excellence, driving the company’s growth in specialized hazardous materials services, including mercury, pyrophoric substances, and other industrial contaminants. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable
industry practices.
Abdulmuizz bin Zainal
Executive Director
Abdulmuizz Bin Zainal is the Executive Director of HG Solution Sdn Bhd, bringing over 20 years of
experience in hazardous materials (hazmat) management within the oil and gas industry. He holds a
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Oxford Brookes University, UK, and has built a strong
career leading complex industrial projects involving mercury handling, decontamination, and
environmental baseline studies.
Throughout his career, Abdulmuizz has played a key role in planning, coordinating, and
supervising hazmat operations from project initiation to final reporting, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory bodies such as DOSH and other governing authorities. His
expertise includes delivering practical training on hazmat decontamination procedures for both
personnel and equipment, contributing to safer operational standards across multiple
platforms. He has successfully led and supervised numerous high-profile projects, including shutdown
operations and mercury-related works for major oil and gas facilities such as PETRONAS Carigali,
Nippon Oil, and various FPSO and platform sites including Kertih, Dulang, and the Masa Field.
His leadership in mercury mapping and baseline studies has been instrumental in supporting
environmental and operational compliance. With a solid technical foundation and extensive field
experience, Abdulmuizz is recognized for his hands-on approach and commitment to safety excellence
in hazardous material management.
